[Kampala, 03/09/2024] β Debate Institute Africa is pleased to announce the appointment of Arinda Saviour as the new Team Leader, effective immediately. This leadership change is part of our ongoing rotational leadership program, designed to nurture future leaders and start the journey of the institution beyond the founders, ensuring the long-term sustainability and growth of the organization.
Arinda Saviour, a Finance graduate with over a decade of experience in debating and debate education, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this role. He has been an instrumental figure within the debate community, having previously served as the President of the Kyambogo Debate Society and the host of the Pan African Universities Championship. Additionally, he has successfully managed the Paragon Rhetorica program within Debate Institute Africa and served as the institution’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
As the new Team Leader, Arinda Saviour will be at the helm of the Institute, guiding our initiatives and projects towards further success. His proven leadership skills, combined with his deep commitment to the debate community, make him an ideal fit for this role.
In addition to this leadership transition, we are excited to announce that Harold Sewanonda has been elevated to the role of Programs Officer. In this capacity, Harold will lead our efforts in communications, capacity building, and curriculum development, ensuring that our programs continue to provide valuable resources and training to debaters across the continent. Furthermore, James Okuku will take on the role of Manager of the Debate Cranes and serve as Uganda’s representative to the World Schools Debating Council, where he will lead and support our the Uganda National Debate Team on the global stage.
The Institute’s Founder,Joseph Tahinduka, who has led with distinction, will now fully focus on the role of Fundraising Lead. This strategic shift will allow the Institute to concentrate on expanding its resources and impact across the continent.
We look forward to this new chapter under Arinda Saviourβs leadership and are confident that his vision and dedication will drive Debate Institute Africa to even greater heights.
