ISSDL 1.0 shall run on a modified World Schools Debating Format Structure. This is the format at world cup of high school debating.

STRUCTURE

  • Two teams: Proposition (also called Government) and Opposition
  • Each team has 3 members.
  • Each team delivers:
    • 3 substantive speeches (5 minutes each for seniors and 4 for Juniors)
  • Debates start with the 1st Proposition speaker.
  • POIs: allowed between minutes 1–5 of substantive speeches (max 15 seconds)
  • No communication with coaches or other teams during prep for impromptu rounds or during debates.
