The Africa Debate Education Fund is a DIA grassroots initiative driven by local philanthropy, aimed at funding  education initiatives across Africa. This fund provides grants to support social causes that promote and advance the learning outcomes that are related to debate education. It’ll be launched on 26th January, 2025

Advocacy for Incoperation of Debate Curriculums in African Educationn Systems
The fund will support advocacy campaigns encouraging governments to include debate and critical thinking in school curricula.

Technology and Debate Education Accessibility Initiatives
The fund shall support virtual Debate Programs, set up online debate platforms, allowing students in remote areas to participate in debates, training, and competitions. Additionally, the fund shall provide grants to schools for essential debate equipment like computers, projectors, internet access and customised AI to democratise access to debate education.

Distributing Debate Educational Resources and Research
The fund will support the development and distribution of debate guides, instructional materials, and online resources tailored to African students' needs and contexts. Additionally, the fund will fund research on Debate Education Impact: to measure the impact of debate on critical thinking, civic engagement, and educational outcomes, building evidence for the value of debate education.

Competition Scholarships for the last mile African
The fund shall sponsor or subsidize national and regional tournaments, covering expenses like travel, accommodation, and participation fees for underfunded schools and students. Additionally, the fund shall Scholarships for Young Debaters to attend advanced workshops, seminars, or international competitions.

Training and Capacity Building
The fund shall support programs that to train students and coaches in debating and public speaking, ensuring accessibility in schools and communities. Additionally, the fund shall support certification programs for debate judges to improve the quality and consistency of adjudication across African debate events.
