Event Overview
The Debate Cranes Community Cup is a speaker development tournament that is convened by Debate Institute Africa. We convene this because the African debating community lacks enough speaker development tournaments ahead of major tournaments. We think that should change.

Objectives
1. Preparation for Nationals: To equip participants with the necessary skills and experience for the national debate competition.
2. Skill Enhancement: To provide a platform for debaters to hone their critical thinking, argumentation, and public speaking abilities.
3. Community Building: To foster a sense of community and collaboration among debaters from various regions.
4. Team Chemistry: To provide a platform for debate teams to develop team chemistry before a competition
Format
– Platform: Discord
– Format: World Schools Debating format (5 minutes) with each team participating in 5 rounds followed by a semi final and final. There will be 30 minutes of constructive feedback per round.
– Rounds: 5 rounds, semifinal and a final round.
– Feedback: Detailed feedback sessions after each round to help participants improve and prepare for nationals.
Schedule
– Opening Ceremony: Brief introduction and welcome speeches from Chief Adjudicators and Organisers..
– Rounds 1-5: Teams compete in 5 preliminary debate rounds.
– Feedback Sessions: Conducted after each round by experienced judges.
– Final Round: Top 2 teams compete for the championship.
– Closing Ceremony: Announcement of winners and final feedback.
Participation
– Eligibility: Open to everyone.
– Registration: Teams must register online by the specified deadlines.
– Fee: UGX 50,000 per team.
